Upon calling local SSA, I was rudely told either get a "bank" or deal with Direct Express. I reported the mounting cases of fraudulent debits with Direct Express and their unmitigated refusal to honor reimbursement.

I asked if I could have direct deposit to a Walmartvdebit or Paypal, I was again rudely told "we have to look into it before we can direct deposit to anyone other than a bank account or Direct Express".

Well come on. Direct Express in my opinion is worse than anything.

Direct Express just took my entire SSI and I can't get anyone on the phone.


Get an account at your local credit union, or suffer the consequences, your choice.

I have to agree with the above poster. Neither the government or Comerica Bank, who they contract with have ZERO interest in protecting federal beneficiaries' money.

I found this out the hard way, after my account was compromised and my ACH information was sold to the highest bidder(s) on the internet black market.

Once they have it, it is there for the taking. Do whatever you have to do to have your benefits electronically deposited at a banking institution you know you can trust.
